Captain Kenneth Brown
A True Outer Banks Local

Our family history of sharing the beauty of the Outer Banks began with my grandfather, Aycock Brown, and his work at the Dare County Tourist Bureau. Many credit him with a leading role in the development of the tourist industry on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. If you see a black and white photo hanging in a local restaurant or place of business, it is likely that of Aycock Brown's.
As natives of the Outer Banks, my father and I spent countless hours working and playing on the local waters. My father was a lifelong charter fisherman and educator, promoting the history and natural beauty of our area. I grew up fishing on my dad's inshore boat, the Erma Queen, starting my career in the charter industry at the age of 8.

Upon graduating from North Carolina State University, I began my career as an owner-operator, spending the next 25 years developing Trophy Hunter Charters, an offshore charter service. We pride ourselves on the relationships we built with our customers and the experiences we were able to share.
Fishing continues to be a family affair. My oldest son, Will, has taken over Trophy Hunter Charters. My middle son, Jake, operates inshore charters on the Sound Barrier and my youngest, Drew, will be the first mate for OBX Crabbing and Shrimping Charters.
I now spend my days on the inshore waters of the Outer Banks still building relationships with our customers and creating new experiences for families to enjoy.

Come see what we have to offer!

The name, Outlier, has a special meaning to our family. In August of 2019, my wife, Liz, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer that had spread to her bones. As a former math teacher, she is determined to defy the data out there for Stage 4 cancer and become the OUTLIER of the prognosis statistics. The pink, green, and teal on the ribbon represent the colors of metastatic breast cancer. We wanted to incorporate the ribbon into our logo for awareness. We have been supporters of Metavivor (metavivor.org ) and the Jimmy V foundation (v.org) as they continue to fund researchers who are focused on finding a cure for cancer.
